Touchscreen
The brief was to design and develop an interactive tool for younger visitors to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The solution required had to engage with and educate visitors about the former president, Nelson Mandela. The installation was set up in the permanent exhibition space, Centre for Memory, within the Foundation’s building in Johannesburg.
Since large groups access the space, there would be a second screen mounted on the wall in front of the touchscreen stand. The screen on the wall would mirror the touchscreen so that other visitors in a group could see the quizzes and join in guessing the answers.

The exhibition space, the Centre for Memory, is an auspicious space, as it is directly outside the preserved office of former SA president Mandela. I worked closely with the archivist and writer from the foundation and together, we decided on four interactive games. These included a general knowledge quiz, a quiz concerning Madiba's legacy, an interactive calendar and a small archive of his speeches. The design and experience needed to stay true to Madiba's legacy. The look of the software was colourful and engaging yet thoughtful and complementary to the surrounding environment.
